"Making Tracks", a 36x24 original oil landscape painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

This painting is one of a series I did of the Grand Mesa in western Colorado. The mesa hosts some incredibly beautiful cross-country ski trails. It’s great fun to ski these trails, and even more fun to paint them in a warm studio! This painting is sold; to view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com or e-mail me at barbara@barbarachurchley.com.

"Autumn Splendor", a 18x14 original oil by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

As a Colorado artist, we are fortunate to paint aspens year round, and they are always challenging and satisfying. Autumn is always a great time to paint aspens – the colors are too brilliant to believe! "Winter in New Mexico", a 14x18 original oil painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

I had a fabulous time painting this with a friend in Taos, New Mexico. We were experimenting with painting from an I-Mac. So much detail on the screen! I had to really concentrate in order to keep the painting loose. To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com or e-mail me at barbara@barbarachurchley.com.

Daybreak in Zion, an 18x24 original landscape oil painting by western Colorado artist Barbara Churchley

On an early morning outing to Angel’s Landing, I stopped on a bridge to photograph this scene. I really enjoyed painting it, as I have spent many wonderful hours in Zion National Park. This painting was juried as a top 100 painting in PaintAmerica’s “Paint the Parks 100”, and is now touring for a year to museums throughout the U.S. The tour began in October 2011 in St. Louis, MO. Rocky Mountain Winter, a 16x20 original landscape oil painting by western Colorado artist Barbara Churchley

It was a particular pleasure to paint this winter scene so typical of the Rockies. I have spent a lot time in the high country in all seasons, so I had many good memories to accompany me during the painting of this scene. Approaching Storm, a 16x12 original oil painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

“Approaching Storm” began as a demo in one of my galleries. I completed it in the studio with palette knife. I like the way the sky recedes into the horizon. "Autumn in the Marshes" 18x18, an original oil landscape painting by western Colorado artist Barbara Churchley

Autumn in the Marshes is painted on cradled board that has been textured with modeling paste. I created this larger studio work from an “en plein air” pastel of Hart’s Basin. I really had a great time painting with red hues for this marsh scene. Spring Green, 36x24, original oil painting on cradled board by western Colorado artist Barbara Churchley

“Spring Green” was almost entirely created from my imagination. I have spent many hours among aspens, so it was not too difficult to compose. This painting sold the day it was hung to a fellow artist! This piece just placed in “Southwest Art” magazine’s 2011 “Artistic Excellence" competition. Of over 3,000 entries, this piece was in the top 20. To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com or e-mail me at barbara@barbarachurchley.com

Afternoon, a 24x24 original contemporary landscape oil painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

I have a one woman show coming up in Eagle, Colorado. I want to have some big, dramatic pieces for the show. This painting is on a Deep Edge canvas, and is painted on all sides. The trees in this painting are on the back of a trail near my home and alongside a creek.
