"Barns in Summer", an 11x14 original landscape oil painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

In my workshops, I am always asked to demonstrate the palette knife. I usually take a painting this is more or less finished and re-paint it with the knife. This painting is a result of just such a demo. I made some later adjustments in my studio, and feel the piece is lively and inviting. I would love to have you on my newsletter mailing list(no more than twice a year, I promise!). Please sign up and view more of my work on my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com.

I am having a one woman show at the Alpine Arts Center in Edwards, Colorado for the month of June. Mountain Blues, a 6x8 original pastel by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

Wow - I've been so busy that I haven't had much time to blog! I'll do my best to change that. I just returned 3 weeks ago from a fabulous trip to Cambodia and Viet Nam, traveling by boat up the Mekong River with my sister. Since my return, I have had pastel workshops the past two weekends and they have been just fantastic. Lots of eager and talented artists with some great paintings as a result of the weekend’s work. This pastel was a demo that I painted to show the use of a cool color palette. This painting sold to one of the students. Well Worn, a 16x12 original landscape oil painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

I was asked to give a demo for the Montrose Visual Arts Guild. Everyone always is curious about working with a palette knife, so I decided it would be fun to demonstrate, and it was! I was a bit tired beforehand, as I had run 20 miles that morning, but as soon as I loaded the palette knife with paint, I was jazzed! I finished it at home over the following days. This painting is available; please contact me at barbara@barbarachurchley.com if you are interested in purchasing it. "Autumn Splendor", a 18x14 original oil by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

"Winter in New Mexico", a 14x18 original oil painting by western Colorado artist, Barbara Churchley

I had a fabulous time painting this with a friend in Taos, New Mexico. We were experimenting with painting from an I-Mac. So much detail on the screen! Spring Green, 36x24, original oil painting on cradled board by western Colorado artist Barbara Churchley

Of over 3,000 entries, this piece was in the top 20. To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://www.barbarachurchley.com or e-mail me at barbara@barbarachurchley.com
